An evening with Boann

Boann distillery is one of the younger distilleries on the Ireland but are quickly gaining a reputation for the quality of their liquids. Gary Ring, one of the distillers at Boann, visited us on 26 June to share some of the distillery's current and upcoming releases. Gary was incredibly insightful and spent the entire evening with the club, being very generous with his time and happy to share a huge amount of information with attendees.

We were delighted to have almost 50 people in the room to enjoy the tasting and Gary's enthusiasm kept the entire room enthralled.

We were treated to some very exceptional whiskeys:

• The Whistler Triple Oak - a very recently-launched new blend with a mixture of grain, malt and pot-still distillates all of which are matured in oak

• Boann Single Pot Still PX finish - this whiskey won double gold medals earning 99 points at the San Francisco Spirit Competition

• Boann Solstice #5 Summer Solstice 2025 - just had been released six days prior to our event and we were the first club to access this whiskey after release

• Cask pull - Boann Pot Still 4-year old full maturation European Oak Hogshead

• Cask pull - Boann Pot Still 3.5-year old full maturation Amontillado Hogshead American Oak

• Cask pull - Boann Single Malt 4-year old full maturation PX Hogshead American Oak

The released whiskeys were well-received, but the cask pulls brought the house down. Each were absolutely bursting with flavour (and ABV for those that enjoy a cask-strength sample!) and really demonstrated the strength of the distillery's maturing stock - we simply can't wait until some of these are released to the general public. We were very grateful to have such an opportunity to access samples straight from the barrel.

We're looking forward to tasting upcoming Boann releases and catching up with Gary at events in the months and years ahead.
