Due to popular demand, a private tasting took place in early December with nine hardy souls braving the elements. Again, we met at Paddy's pool room which was warm with a lovely wood stove adding heat and ambiance to our event.
This event was a Scotch-themed event with a cover charge of €10 per person to cover part of the cost of the liquid enjoyed. There were six main whiskies tasted on the night:
Ben Bracken (Speyside)
Tamnavulin (Speyside)
Jura (Islands)
GlenGrant (Speyside)
Tullibardine (Highlands)
Smokehead (Islay)
The whiskies chosen by the organiser were varied across the regions and the verdict from attendees reflected this variation from the rounded Highlands blends to the smokiness of the Islay options (and indeed the Islands too).
As after the first night, the debate continued in Browne's lounge afterwards where a couple of other members who couldn't make the tasting joined us for a glass or two and continued conversation.
