As always, the South-East Whiskey Festival was a very enjoyable event. This is the third year I've attended and I'm already looking forward to 2026! I was with a group of five that stayed in Wexford from Thursday evening until Sunday, and other club members attended for specific events or for day trips.
The Thursday began with a delicious meal in Greenacres paired with bonders' whiskeys - an absolute treat and the highlight of the weekend for many attendees. I think there were roughly nine regular GWC event attendees there, so we pretty much had a table to ourselves.
On Friday, I attended the Kilbeggan tasting, while others attended the Sliabh Liag tasting. It was great to attend Kilbeggan and to learn more about that distillery's incredible history.
Saturday kicked off with Killowen where Brendan shared some very exciting and new expressions - I can see why this distillery has its own Kult! Then I meandered on to the Redbreast masterclass - always great - and finished up with Echlinville at the end of the evening.
The best part of the weekend was, as always, catching up with whiskey friends and sharing a dram or sipping a pint. Just a great weekend.
