Gorey Whiskey Club has been bringing whiskey lovers together since 2020, and after going public in 2024 we’re only getting started. We’re a mixed crowd of beginners, enthusiasts and everything in between — united by a love of great whiskey and good company.

We host regular events throughout the year including distillery takeovers, guided tastings, road trips and whiskey festivals. Membership (€65) is optional but offers priority access to tickets and event discounts, with individual tickets also available throughout the year.

Whether you're just starting your whiskey journey or have been exploring it for years, you’ll find a warm welcome at Gorey Whiskey Club.

The Irish Whiskey Awards 2026

We were delighted to be asked to be part of the judging panel for the Irish Whiskey Awards 2026. This is a very prestigious set of awards that are very highly respected in the Irish whiskey community. The judging is "double blind" - not only are the expressions kept secret, but so are the categories. In other words, we have no idea if we're tasting a 20-year old Single Malt or a budget 3-year old whiskey. While we take the judging very seriously, it's an enormously enjoyable

An evening with Glenmorangie

What a great evening we had on the 3rd of September with Luke from Glenmorangie visiting Browne's lounge for a full house and showing off the wide and exceptional Glenmorangie range. Cracking selection! We were treated to the 12-, 14-, 15-, 18-year old and the Nectar D'Or. This was the club's first foray into Scottish whisky and Luke did a great job in showcasing the best of the brand. We can't wait to welcome Luke back again - no doubt Glenmorangie won a few more fans in Gor

...and now for something completely different!

It was with no small level of trepidation that I found myself sitting in a radio studio being interviewed about the club and whiskey more generally at the very end of July. After all, it was a two-hour live show - what could possibly go wrong? WNSR is a new radio station operating from Gorey town but with a wealth of serious experience in the team. I found myself humming along to their chosen tunes so others of my vintage might like to tune in too - they're on https://www.wns

An evening with Celtic Whiskey Shop

It was great to welcome Celtic Whiskey Shop to Browne's 45 on in late July and for the attendees to be treated to some wonderful expressions presented masterfully by Mat and Adam. A very sunny setup in the 45 Celtic Whiskey Shop are stalwarts of the Irish whiskey landscape. Not only are they one of the most notable whiskey retailers in the country but they also run Whiskey Live Dublin, Celtic Whiskey Auctions, the Irish Whiskey Awards and much more besides. # Quite the collec

An evening with Bushmills

Bushmills distillery is one of Ireland's oldest and most decorated distilleries, famous world-wide for it's incredible range of Single Malt Irish whiskeys. Mark McConville, Irish Whiskey Ambassador for Bushmills, visited us on 2 July 2026 in Browne's 45 with a simply stunning range of samples - we were truly spoiled. This lineup needs no introduction Mark expertly brought us through the Bushmills range - from the 12- 14- and 16-year old Single Malts in the first half of the e

An evening with Redbreast

Is Redbreast the most beloved brand in all of Irish whiskey? Very possibly - even non-whiskey folks know of Redbreast and it's wonderful flavour profiles. We were delighted to welcome Matthew Smyth from Irish Distillers to Browne's 45 in Gorey in June 2026 to present to us, and what a presentation he had. Incredible lineup Matthew walked the attendees through the range from Redbreast 12 through the ages and finishing with the incredible Redbreast 27. We did detour slightly to

Whiskey Live 2026

We all love Whiskey Live Dublin and 2026's edition was no different. Run by the fantastic folks at the Celtic Whiskey Shop, there were over 100 exhibitors on the day and the only issue is trying to say hello to all of our friends! As is tradition, we met in Searson's on Baggot Street for lunch and enjoyed marvelling at their excellent whiskey selection! Any two from the top shelf please! I think we were the first to try the Ember releases... We spent a lot of time chatting wi

A visit to Boann...

Back in 2025, Gary Ring visited Gorey Whiskey Club with wit, charm and a bunch of great whiskeys. From a festive evening in Gorey, the seeds of a distillery visit were sown and we finally got to visit Drogheda on a Saturday in April. We hopped on a private bus in Gorey and chatted all things whiskey on our journey up the M11. At the distillery, we were greeted by Gary and we got into an immediate cask pull sample. Gary walked us through the distillery over the course of the t

An evening with Micil

We were delighted to welcome Michéal O'Flaherty from Micil to Browne's Bar on Thursday 12 March and we were treated to a wonderful range of spirits from poitín to whiskey to a cream liqueur. Excellent stuff all round. We started with two poitín expressions - the distillery's standard poitín and their heritage poitín. Both of these come with a ton of flavour with the heritage edition bringing further peatiness to the table. Despite the reputation that poitín has - it being a..

South East Whiskey Festival

The South East Whiskey Festival is an event that we book into as soon as tickets are released. While it's great to try new whiskeys, I very much look forward to catching up with old friends and spending time with distillers and presenters each year. This year was no different and those who attended from the club had a great time. Always great to catch up with Weronika at the Bank My first tasting of the weekend was at Clonakilty at the Bank where it was an opportunity to try

2025 - a year in review

What a great year we had in 2025! It was a year when we introduced membership for the first time and our attendances at our events just grew and grew. That's not to mention some very cool members-only events we run and a whiskey we launched, so last year was a very exciting twelve months with many highlights to review. We kicked our year off with an introduction to whiskey - always a very popular event where we chatted through some whiskey (and whisky!) basics for those who w

An evening with Lough Ree Distillery

We were delighted to welcome Darragh from Lough Ree distillery to Gorey on Thursday 20 November. We were indoors in Browne's Lounge for this sold-out event. For many of the attendees, it was their first introduction to this distillery and many new fans were created that evening. Darragh and Nigel strike poses Darragh showcased the distillery's Bart's range - their standard whiskeys - and their Bridge range - their single cask whiskeys. The Bart's range went down exceptionally
